Overview
OWLv2 provides an all-in-one online teaching solution for Chemistry instructors that delivers an eTextbook, multimedia learning activities, auto-graded assessments, and analytics through an easy-to-use platform. It supports you no matter your course format and can easily be integrated into your Learning Management System with automatic grade return. OWLv2 elevates thinking through mastery learning by empowering students to work at their own pace to understand each concept utilizing algorithmic question randomization, high-quality question authoring, instant and question-specific feedback, and powerful analytics. The randomization of three factors—chemical, numerical, and contextual—creates unique question variants for each student and attempt.
- QUICK PREP FOR ORGANIC CHEMISTRY: Quick Prep is a self-paced short course proven effective at helping students of all levels review key concepts at the start of the semester.
- MASTERY LEARNING PROBLEMS: Mastery learning problems contain questions associated with specific concepts or skills. With these unique problems, the chemistry, the wording of the questions, and the numbers change to ensure student mastery. This 3-way randomization of problems allows students to practice and understand the underlying chemical concepts before they gain mastery and move on.
- MULTIMEDIA ACTIVITIES: Tutorials, Simulations, and Visual Exercises are interactive problems designed to promote conceptual understanding and support problem-solving skills.
- OWLv2 allows students to draw chemical structures directly in their assignments using ChemDoodle Sketcher.
- REVIEW AND CHALLENGE PROBLEMS: Review activities help students demonstrate that they have mastered the material in a given Unit. Challenge activities allow students to answer more difficult questions and questions that combine multiple concepts.
- ADAPTIVE STUDY PLANS: Adaptive Study Plans test students’ knowledge of important topics, and serve as a review or summary of the topics in a chapter. Students begin by taking a quiz then they receive a study plan tailored to their unique learning needs.
- TEST QUESTIONS: A bank of test questions are included in a stricter evaluation environment for assessment purposes.
- COURSE TEMPLATES: Pre-made course templates correlated to a number of textbooks are available.
