Overview
WORLD POLITICS: THE MENU FOR CHOICE continues to be a sophisticated and broad theoretical orientation to the study of world politics, giving students the tools they need to adapt to the rapid change associated with international relations. The 10th Edition features 15 chapters, instead of 17, increased coverage of international law and organization, and a new feature on ethics.
- A new box feature called “Ethics and World Politics” briefly examines moral dilemmas relating to armament and disarmament, warfare, humanitarian relief, economic development, natural resources and distributive justice, and other subjects.
- An expanded chapter on international law, including the law of war, human rights law, and the responsibility to protect. Detailed discussion of the International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Court, and other international tribunals.
- An expanded chapter on international organization, with special emphasis on the United Nations system, its activities across the globe, and its role in politics among nations. This chapter also examines different conceptions of international society.
- A streamlined presentation of the different levels of analysis from which to approach the study of world politics, as well as the main schools of thought that present coherent, but often competing, perspectives on the way international society functions.
- Updated tables, figures, and references to the scholarly and policy-oriented literature on world politics.
- Expanded discussions of contemporary theories of world politics, including constructivism and reflectivist approaches.
