Getting started with MindTap
What is MindTap?
MindTap is an interactive eLearning resource designed to help you master the subject you’re studying.
Your MindTap has been customised by your instructor to guide you through your course and help you focus on what’s important.
It includes ready-made content aligned to your textbook, such as the eBook for your course and other helpful online study tools such as videos, practice quizzes with instant feedback, flashcards and much more.
MindTap can be accessed direct from your institution’s learning management system (Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, etc.) or as a standalone resource.
How to access MindTap
COURSE KEY:
Sign in to your Cengage content dashboard and click on ‘Enter Access Code or Course Key’ at the top of the page, then enter the course key provided by your instructor. Don’t have a course key? Reach out to your instructor to request it.
Before you start using MindTap
Before you start studying with MindTap, run a quick system check of your computer to ensure you have everything you need to access and use this platform. Click here to run the system check: ng.cengage.com/static/browsercheck/
Your MindTap 14-day trial
You’re able to try before you buy! Get access to MindTap for 14 days before you buy it. To unlock your trial, follow the steps in ‘How to Unlock MindTap’ below.
How to unlock MindTap
- Course key: Sign in to your Cengage account or create a Cengage account. Go to your Cengage content dashboard and click on ‘Enter Access Code or Course Key’ at the top of the page, then enter the course key provided by your instructor
- Choose to buy now or get temporary access. If you have purchased a print textbook, enter the access code that is packaged with your textbook. Please note, if you select temporary access you will be able to trial MindTap for 14 days
- Get 10% OFF at the checkout by using the discount code provided by your instructor. Don’t have a discount code? Ask your instructor for one
- To get back into your MindTap course go to au.cengage.com and log in. You’ll be taken to My Home where you can access your MindTap course and any other Cengage resources
How to unlock MindTap in Your LMS
- Head to your campus Learning Management System (LMS) homepage and log in
- Click on any link to Cengage MindTap content* to continue the registration process
- If you already have a Cengage account, enter your username and password. Or simply create a Cengage account
- Choose buy now or get temporary access. Please note, if you select temporary access you will be able to trial MindTap for 14 days
- Get 10% OFF at the checkout by using the discount code provided by your instructor. Don’t have a discount code? Ask your instructor for one

Access to Cengage Read is included when you purchase the MindTap for your course.
Cengage Read is an eReader app built for students like you who are always on the move. It enables you to read, listen and take notes on your smartphone or tablet, wherever you are and whenever you have time. Download the app and log in with your Cengage username and password to get started.
