Greater Student Engagement

Better Comprehension & Higher Grades

More Confidence
Engaged Learners Succeed
Data shows students who frequently use digital platforms in school have more interactions with instructors and peers than those not using digital platforms.1
Digital users were also more likely to study regularly throughout the semester and were significantly less likely to have missed class.1
With 48% of adults ages 18-29 stating they are "constantly online” 2, ensuring students have access to their eTextbook on their mobile devices is key and can help students complete their reading assignments on the go.
Our mobile app, Cengage Read offers students 24/7, online/offline access to their eTextbook—all in the palm of their hand.

Better Comprehension, Higher Grades
Frequent users of digital platforms are significantly more likely to expect good grades and course success than students who only occasionally, or never use digital.1 Students also achieve good grades when they comprehend key concepts within their course. This is done when instructors implement a learning experience that combines visual, verbal auditory, written and active instruction. This experience fosters active cognitive processing and meaningful learning for students when using a fully online or hybrid course format.
MindTap possesses a learning path that introduces key concepts from the onset of a course and progresses from understanding to application. Instructors can personalise their MindTap learning path, making it more relevant and engaging for students.
MindTap also contains interactive homework and quizzes that further support student comprehension and application of key concepts and students can easily track their course performance, identify challenging topic areas and receive on-the-spot feedback from their instructors.

Good grades are more than a letter on paper
Grades are a gateway to a better future. But students need to believe good grades are possible, and see evidence along the way, for them to convert those aspirations into achievement.4
Confidence propels learning, and students who frequently use digital are more confident learners.1 Digital learners are also more likely to expect good grades and course success vs those who only occasionally, or never use digital.1
Customisation is key to this success. So with MindTap, educators have unique ways to infuse their personal style into course materials, making them more relevant and engaging for students. The result: more effective learning and better performance.

Learners Build Confidence & Aim Higher
71% of students said MindTap made them more motivated to learn. But with increasing demands and frequent changes to the environment of education, how can educators keep up with the tools and guidance modern students need to excel? Smart use of MindTap can help.
“Personalised and connected learning experiences” are recommended by the US Department of Education.3 MindTap enables instructors to create these experiences and nurtures students by sharing notes and highlighting eTextbook content directly within the platform. Instructors can also add their own content into the learning path to further personalise their course and engage students their way.
Lecturer Toby Mizzi shares his experience of how MindTap builds student confidence and gives a clear picture of their progress

Methodology
Quantitative and qualitative data was compiled from 120 institutions, over 12,200 students and 61 separate studies between 2016 and 2021. These include course grades, test and assignment scores, learner and instructor surveys and interviews. Studies also collected data from non-MindTap users, allowing for direct comparisons on the impact of MindTap on academic outcomes.
